Artist Searching For His Master Tilers

The search is on for the expert Italian tilers who installed Vladimir Tichy murals in the Illawarra in the 1970s.

Mr Tichy doesn't know if the tilers who worked with him on murals at St Paul's, Albion Park and Illawarra County Council are still alive.

But if they are he would love to meet them again, or make contact with their families.

``They were masters," Mr Tichy said.

The artist said members of the Illawarra's Italian community brought great skills with them when they came to Australia.

``The work they did on the fresco at St Paul's was superb," he said.

And he'd love to recruit them to help restore his dismantled Illawarra County Council mural when a new home is found for it.
