Frequently Asked Questions
Tips
Choosing your first tile – Make sure your wall and floor tiles are exactly the same size. Some manufactures 300 x 600 porcelain tiles are actually 295 x 595 in dimension, making it hard to perfectly match your wall and floor grout lines. Check if your feature tiles are the same thickness as your wall /floor tiles. Less is more. Too much use of a feature tile can sometimes be too much. Colors – Choose a dark color for your floor tiles (It will hide mess.) Measure twice – Measure your bathroom and then measure again. There is nothing more inconvient than being short on tiles. OUR CONSTRUCTION TIPS Straight walls – They really do make your bathroom look great. Don’t expect your tiler to fix it, sometimes we can’t. Level the floor – Sand and cement screeds/ self-leveling compounds will fix uneven floors giving you a great finish. Install a recessed shower (or Bath) panel. Not only do they look great you can fit all your Shampoos / soaps / ornaments in neatly. Cornice – If your wall tiles are going to the ceiling, install cornice after the tiles are fixed. It gives your bathroom a nice finish. You can also do this with your architraves. Hebel – If you have taken out your old polymarble shower base and are thinking of installing a tiled shower base, but don’t want to cut out the required 30 millemetres of concrete, to obtain your fall Hebel. Hebel bricks are a water tight solution. They are glued on top of your concrete, waterproofed and tiled over. Your frameless/ semi frameless shower screen can sit on top. Adhesive – We guarantee our tiling systems and therefore use only the best adhesives. Cheaper is defiantly not better. Grout – We choose to use flexible mold resistant grout in all Wet Areas. Just ask us for samples. Caulking – Caulking is an integral part of your bathroom. It is an added barrier in making sure your bathroom is watertight. It will stretch with your bathroom in event of movement and give your bathroom a beautiful finish.
