Roof Tilers
Roof tilers cover structures with roof tiles or slates to make waterproof surfaces. Roof tiles can be made from a variety of materials including terracotta, concrete and clay.
Roof tilers are responsible for looking at drawings and specifications to determine what materials are required. They prepare the roof's surface for tiling and then they lay down the tiles selected for the roof, as well as applying protective paint coats and any other finishes that the roof requires.
A lot of manual work is required as a roof tiler so it's important they have good hand-eye coordination as well as balance.
There are many different tiles roof tilers can use. The most used roof tiles include flat tiles, laid in regular overlapping rows, imbrex and tegula tiles that form a pattern of curved and flat tiles to make rain channels on a roof.
Other roof tiles are the Roman tiles (flat in the middle and have a concave curve at one end and a convex curve at the other so they can interlock with one another) and the Pantile, which has an S-shaped profile where adjacent tiles interlock.
