Tiling

Tiling requires preparation. Firstly measure and mark the surface the tiles will be applied to. Evenly spread adhesive to the surface and firmly press each tile into the adhesive.

Begin tiling from the centre of the surface and work outwards. Use a level to check that the tiles have been laid evenly. Use a tile cutter on the edge of the tiled surface or around any permanent objects. After marking and measuring the part of the tile that needs to be cut, scribe and break using the cutter. Remember to use protective eye-glasses.

Any awkward edges can be shaped using tile nippers and any jagged edges can be smoothed by using a tile file.

When the adhesive is dry, you can grout your tiled surface. Spread grout over the area and work well into the joints and cracks with a spreading tool. When this is complete, clean away the excess grout according to the manufacturer's instructions.
